Hitachi in Sub-Saharan Africa

Hitachi

Hitachi is one of the leading companies in Japan and the world, and our activities reflect an aspect of history of the economic relationship between Japan and South Africa. Hitachi established a Johannesburg office in 1963 and has been doing business there ever since. The Company has supplied products such as compressors to mining companies, trains, mainframes, and consumer goods, thanks to the support of our customers and partners.

Hitachi Power Europe and Hitachi Power Africa were awarded a contract from ESKOM to deliver and install boilers for power stations.

Currently, for consumers, we provide audiovisual products and white goods. For industries, we supply power tools, ink jet printers, chillers and chains. South Africa is rich in natural resources and Hitachi Construction Machinery Southern Africa is supplying excavators, dump trucks and wheel loaders to the region. The company has also developed a landmine sweeper, which is used in many countries, not only in Africa but all over the world.

Hitachi also supplies storage and server systems together with a local partner. Hitachi believes the company can support South African society further through IT systems.

Hitachi hopes to expand the range of products in the South African market, for the more efficient use of energy. IT solutions for electric power networks can be one of the candidates. For medical use, we hope to expand the product range that we can supply.

Hitachi can support every aspect of people's lives and is confident that we can support the continuing development of the South African economy.
