Hitachi–DST Scholarship Programme for South African Engineers
The Department of Science and Technology of the Republic of South Africa (DST) and Hitachi have reached and signed an agreement.
The objective is to contribute to the development of the capacity of South African engineers through a training programme in Japan. The programme was announced in early 2009.
The objective of this Programme is to enhance the capacity of South African engineers in the areas of water and sanitation treatment and service in support of South Africa’s social infrastructure development programme. The two-month scholarship provides technical training at Hitachi factories, visits to Japanese water utilities and a Japanese introductory course at The Overseas Human Resources and Industry Development Association (HIDA).
JETRO–Hitachi Seminar for South African Engineers
Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Hitachi made an agreement to hold the JETRO-Hitachi Seminar in South Africa and are preparing for the seminar. The objective is to contribute to skills development and skills transfer to ESKOM. This seminar is planned to be held from March 14th to 22nd, 2009 in South Africa. The JETRO-Hitachi Seminar is to be held yearly for the next two to three years. Target of this activity is engineers engaged in the area of electric power, especially engaging in power network systems. The program Term will be total five days, 4 days for lectures about power network systems, and one day for visit to power plants, government and other public offices.
